Happy Birthday, Alia Bhatt! The ONE Thing She Gave Up To Lose Weight After Pregnancy (Image Credits: Instagram)
The most versatile actress in Bollywood, Alia Bhatt, turns 32 today! Even after becoming a mom, she has managed to stay in incredible shape without following any extreme diets or fitness regimes. Alia welcomed her daughter, Raha Kapoor, with Ranbir Kapoor in November 2022, and instead of rushing into a drastic weight loss routine, she took a mindful, balanced approach to fitness that helped her stay in shape.
Unlike many who feel pressured to shed postpartum weight quickly, Alia focused on being kind to her body. In a media interaction, she dismissed rumours about undergoing procedures for quick weight loss and said that she only started working out after getting the green light from her doctors. “A lot of people assume that actors do unnatural things to lose weight after pregnancy, but that’s not true. I wanted to be honest about my journey, which is why I shared snippets on Instagram. I didn’t stress over losing weight, and I only started pushing myself after 12 weeks, as advised by my doctors,” she shared.
Alia’s Postpartum Fitness Routine
Alia didn’t jump straight into intense workouts. Instead, she eased into fitness with small, effective steps. She began with 15-minute walks and breathing exercises to improve blood circulation and overall well-being. Her biggest advice to new moms? Be gentle with yourself! “I avoided checking my weight every day like many people do when they work out. I would step on the scale maybe once in two weeks,” she said.
Yoga: The Secret to Alia’s Post-Baby Glow
Alia firmly believes in yoga, making it a non-negotiable part of her daily routine. Here are some yoga asanas she swears by:
Aerial Yoga – A key part of her postpartum fitness plan, this helps improve flexibility and core strength.
Warrior Pose – Strengthens the lungs, chest, and core muscles.
Headstand (Sirsasana) – Enhances balance, focus, and mental clarity.
Pigeon Pose – Strengthens back muscles and improves posture.
Puppy Pose – A shoulder-opening stretch she performs with a yoga wheel to relieve stress.
Ardha Matsyendrasana – A twisting pose that tones the abs and aids digestion.
Beyond physical benefits, Alia credits yoga for keeping her mentally balanced. “Yoga doesn’t just tone the body; it brings a sense of calm and mindfulness to my hectic life,” she says.
Alia Bhatt’s No-Starvation Diet Plan
Alia knows that fitness is not just about working out but also about what you eat. She follows a well-balanced diet, eating multiple small meals throughout the day and ensuring she gets all essential nutrients.
What’s on Alia’s Plate?
Morning Detox Drink – She starts her day with warm lemon water, which aids digestion, boosts vitamin C levels, and keeps her hydrated.
Breakfast – Simple yet nutritious, usually poha or an egg white sandwich.
Mid-Morning Snack – A bowl of papaya or an idli with sambhar for an energy boost.
Lunch – A wholesome meal of one roti, veggies, dal, curd, or quinoa with chicken.
Hydration – She never forgets to drink loads of water and fresh vegetable juices, especially during shoots.
Dinner – A light meal of one roti, veggies, and dal. She also adjusts her diet seasonally, opting for jowar in summer and bajra in winter for extra health benefits.
No Crash Diets, Only Smart Choices
What makes Alia’s approach refreshing is her focus on overall well-being rather than quick fixes. She believes in balance, self-care, and consistency. Her journey is proof that you don’t need to go to extremes to stay fit—you just need patience, mindful eating, and a dedicated yet gentle fitness routine.
