At 14, when most Gen Z teenagers are concerned about video games and Instagram reels, Vaibhav Suryavanshi is a cut above the rest. This Rajasthan Royals prodigy shattered multiple long-standing Indian Premier League records during his side's match against Gujarat Titans on Monday.
Suryavanshi, a native of Bihar, became the fastest Indian centurion in IPL history, reaching there in just 35 balls. Apart from that, Vaibhav also broke a massive world record, becoming the youngest-ever player to score a ton in the T20 format.

Decoding Vaibhav’s fitness levels

This amazing achievement excited cricket fans all across the country and the world. Vaibhav proved his ability as a cricketer last year by playing for the India B U19 side in a quadrangular under-19 series, which preceded his debut in the Ranji Trophy.
However, to complete and stay relevant in the world of cricket—a high-intensity sport—you need to be super fit, healthy, and ready to take on onslaughts from bowlers. According to fitness experts, cricketers start with their training young. They need top-notch fitness levels—which come from a mix of strength training, cardio, and a diet that is rich in high-quality proteins and good carbohydrates. Vibhav focuses on developing explosive strength, agility, and core strength to improve his bone density.

Vaibhav quit eating his favourite mutton and pizza

Despite being just 14 years old, he has been mature enough to understand and realise the number of sacrifices he needs to make to live his dream. His childhood coach, Manoj Ojha, had earlier revealed how the left-handed batter loved mutton and pizza, but both were slashed from his diet to ensure he did not put on weight.
He’s not allowed to eat mutton. I have removed the pizza from his diet chart," Ojha was quoted in the Times of India. “He is just fond of chicken and mutton. He is a kid, so he used to love pizza a lot. But he doesn’t eat it anymore. When we used to give him mutton, no matter how much we gave, he would finish all of it. That’s why he looks a bit chubby."

Vibhav’s mental toughness

According to experts, it is not just the physical but even mental toughness that matters in cricket. Ojha, while praising Vibhav’s mental strength and aggressive mindset, said the teenager knows when to keep calm and where to show power.
Additionally, Ojha says Vaibhav also takes care of his sleep quality and hydration levels, which are extremely crucial at all stages.
