They commonly appear on the cheeks, forehead, and around the eyes, becoming more pronounced over time with consistent pressure. 1. Side Sleeping:

"When you sleep on one side, part of your skin gets pressed against the pillow, creating folds that can eventually turn into permanent wrinkles," explains Dr Gupta. This posture can also lead to facial asymmetry, making one side of your face appear older over time.
2. Sleeping on Your Back:
If you're aiming for youthful skin, back sleeping is your best bet. Dr Gupta highlights, "Sleeping on your back reduces pressure on your face and prevents the friction that leads to wrinkles. It also promotes better circulation and reduces puffiness."
3. Sleeping on Your Stomach:
Sleeping on your stomach is the worst posture for your skin. "This position causes significant pressure on the cheeks and forehead, leading to deep wrinkles and puffiness due to poor circulation and fluid retention," Dr Gupta warns.

Thankfully, a few adjustments to your sleeping habits and bedding can help you maintain smooth, youthful skin.
1. Use Soft Pillow Covers:
"Switching to soft pillowcases, like silk or satin, can reduce friction and allow your skin to slide rather than drag," says Dr Gupta. This minimizes the chances of sleep wrinkles forming.
2. Sleep on Your Back:
Training yourself to sleep on your back can be a game-changer for your skin. "This position keeps your face free from pressure, helping your skin stay smooth overnight," she adds.
3. Invest in a Foam Pillow:
For side sleepers who find it challenging to switch, foam pillows can be a great option. "Foam pillows cradle the head and alleviate tension, reducing the pressure on your skin," suggests Dr Gupta.
4. Stay Hydrated:
Hydration is key to preventing wrinkles. "Use a night serum with hyaluronic acid and antioxidants to nourish and stimulate your skin cells," she advises. Keeping your skin hydrated improves elasticity and reduces the likelihood of wrinkles.
5. Use Retinol and Collagen Products:Incorporating skincare products with retinol or collagen can further protect your skin. "These ingredients boost cell regeneration and strengthen your skin barrier," Dr Gupta recommends.
