Drinking fresh fruit juice sounds like a perfect choice for your health but that is not necessarily a right assessment. Of course, there are positives to drinking fruit juice — starting with a list of vitamins and nutrients that fill every glass. But 100% fruit juice is also loaded with enough sugar almost same as a soda drink.
Dr Rahul Baxi, India's Top Diabetologist, made an appearance at The Ranveer Show, where he discussed various things - including the harm that fruit juice can cause.
He explained, "Even when you think that it is homemade fruit juice without any sugar, its not that great. Juice without sugar, made at home, is still nothing but sugar water."
But how is that? Let's break it down for you!
Dr Rahul explains, "I allow fruits and encourage my patients to have a fruit or two daily. But don't drink juice after today." He added, "So how many oranges are used to make a glass of juice? 5-6 easily? What you end up doing here is, you extract the juice and throw away all the fiber, making it a harmful choice. And on top of that, you end up drinking the sugary water in a matter of a few minutes."
He then asks if people can eat 6 oranges at once? Of course, not!
This is why it is advised to skip fruit juice and only have fruits. Also, it is important for people to understand that drinking fruit juice is not the same as eating a whole fruit. Some of the fabulous benefits of fruit disappear during the juicing process. The biggest loss is in fiber content. Whole fruit also gives you more of a full-belly feeling than juice.
Many types of fruits are packed with natural sugars - this is why fruits are often called "nature's candy". When you make juice out of that fruit, you concentrate that sugar into one extremely sippable drink.
