Green tea’s effectiveness is attributed to its rich content of antioxidants and anti-inflammatory compounds, particularly epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG). This compound may reduce vascular damage in the brain, offering a natural defence against age-related cognitive decline.
Interestingly, when the study compared the effects of green tea and coffee, it found that coffee did not significantly impact white matter lesions, further emphasizing green tea’s unique benefits.
